I am currently working on a PhD in Leadership for Higher Education and
I have had a multitude of work experiences that include advertising sales and management, teaching, writing, editing, and
now extensive PhD researching. I will be Dr. Portugal in 2008.
BIO:
I was in
advertising management and sales for 12 years as a regional manager, general manager, and sales manager. During my advertising
career, I traveled throughout the U.S.
negotiating contracts with national, regional, major, and local accounts. While I managed other sales people, I also maintained
multi-million dollar accounts, and I always renewed business for more money! After much success in business, I decided it
was time to move in a different direction and began pursuing advanced degrees in Education. Today, I am a writer, artist,
and online educator. I believe that one needs to constantly upgrade one's skills and abilities to stay competitive and marketable.
As a freelance writer and online instructor,
I write for various magazines, websites, blogs, and peer-reviewed academic journals. In addition, my writing
tends to focus on consulting prospective college students on the benefits of a college education, financial aid, and many
other college related issues. Furthermore, I discuss the differences between traditional ground campuses versus online institutions. I
am an online educator and my content areas include Education, English, Writing, Literature, Health, Studio Art,
and Art History.
